Jakarta, July 20 -- Indonesia has achieved self-sufficiency in eight key food commodities, supported by record-breaking national rice reserves and historic improvements in agricultural welfare, President Prabowo Subianto said on Monday.

Speaking during a Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta, the President declared the milestone a vital shield against the escalating threat of a global food crisis

"We are self-sufficient in eight food commodities. Our rice reserves are currently at the highest level in the history of Indonesia," Prabowo remarked.
