New York, Sept. 27 -- Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and his Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil Pinto discussed strengthening economic cooperation, focusing on food and energy security, during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly on Friday.

"Indonesia and Venezuela have great potential to collaborate on achieving food and energy security," Sugiono said after the meeting in New York.

He noted Indonesia's existing presence in Venezuela through its state-owned energy company and called for continued support from the Venezuelan government to deepen cooperation in these sectors.
