Jakarta, June 2 -- Indonesia and Qatar have moved to deepen defense ties and address rising global security concerns during high-level military talks in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin hosted Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani for a closed-door bilateral meeting.

The discussions focused on expanding joint military cooperation and navigating current international geopolitical tensions.

The defense talks follow a highly anticipated meeting on Monday at the Merdeka Palace, where Sheikh Saoud met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to deliver a personal message from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
