Jakarta, March 31 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi agreed to lead their countries into a stronger strategic partnership and to play an active role in endorsing global stability and peace.

The shared commitment resulted from a bilateral meeting held at the Akasaka Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday, according to an official statement received in Jakarta.

"We agreed that both Japan and Indonesia will make great efforts to convince warring parties to pursue de-escalation. If necessary, we are ready to serve as mediators to facilitate measures oriented toward de-escalation and peace," Prabowo said.
