Jakarta, Aug. 17 -- Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani underscored the commemoration of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day as a moment for all society elements to renew their commitment for national progress.

"Eighty-one years of independence of the Republic of Indonesia represent a milestone for us to continue strengthening unity, safeguarding national sovereignty, upholding justice, and bringing prosperity to all Indonesian people," Maharani remarked at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
