Jakarta, July 6 -- Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed that he and Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani will attend the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, later this week.

"According to our plan, the foreign minister and MPR speaker will attend the funeral," Sugiono said after welcoming the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Monday.

"The funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday, 9 July, and we plan to attend there. We are awaiting confirmation regarding the time and venue where we can join the ceremony," the minister said.
