Jakarta, July 31 -- Member of the House of Representatives (DPR) Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo assessed that revising the Law on Human Trafficking Eradication is necessary to adopt a victim-centered approach.

According to Rahayu, Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning Human Trafficking Eradication focuses more on delivering justice through punishing perpetrators than on addressing victims' needs.

The legislator made this statement at a press conference following the Public Discussion on World Day against Trafficking in Persons in Jakarta on Thursday.

She observed that the law is very outdated and needs revision to keep pace with changing times, as various modus operandi of human trafficking perpetrators have evolved and changed.
