Batam, Riau Islands, Aug. 28 -- Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin launched cerebral aneurysm clipping surgery, a procedure to clip blood vessels in the brain, for the first time at the Embung Fatimah Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Batam.

The surgery was performed by a neurosurgeon from RSUD Embung Fatimah together with a team from the Mahar Mardjono National Brain Center Hospital (RS PON), through the Cerebral Aneurysm Clipping Proctoring Program.

"Today we saw a clipping surgery that previously had to be done outside Batam City. With the doctors and facilities now available, patients no longer need to be referred to Medan or Jakarta," Sadikin remarked here on Friday.
