Jakarta, Oct. 9 -- Indonesia's Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji said the transformation toward green industry could open new economic opportunities for national industry through energy efficiency, emission reduction, and carbon trading, while strengthening competitiveness in global markets.

"The transformation toward green industry is not merely an environmental obligation, but a new economic opportunity," Sarmuji said in a statement confirmed here on Friday.

Through the integration of green economy principles and carbon trading, he added, industries that succeed in improving energy efficiency and cutting emissions could convert those emission reductions into value-added commodities in the carbon market.
