Makassar, July 26 -- Manpower Minister Yassierli has said that the government is modifying programs offered by job training centers (BLKs) to ensure they produce workers who have the competencies that industries need.

"It should be noted that we are carrying out transformation in BLKs, devising training programs that are grounded in the needs of industries," he added while delivering a public lecture at Indonesian Muslim University in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Saturday.

He noted that around 40 BLKs are directly run by the Ministry of Manpower, while about 250 others are under the management of other state institutions and regional governments.
