Jakarta, Aug. 11 -- The government plans to phase in restrictions on subsidized fuel, specifically Pertalite, targeting high-income households to safeguard the State Budget (APBN) amid global oil market volatility, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated.

"We discussed the possibility of implementing restrictions on Pertalite subsidies for those at the top level," Minister Purbaya said here on Tuesday, following a bilateral meeting with Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.

Purbaya explained that the proposed policy would bar individuals in the top income brackets-specifically deciles 9 and 10-from purchasing subsidized Pertalite, requiring them to switch to non-subsidized options instead.
