Jakarta, April 22 -- The Industry Ministry is strengthening the role of early adopters to boost the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market in Indonesia.

This strategy is considered crucial for creating stable demand and accelerating the development of the national EV industry from upstream to downstream, according to Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita.

"The government is serious about developing a comprehensive national EV industry. We are not only encouraging production, but also sending a strong market signal by making the government an early adopter for domestically produced electric vehicles," Agus said in his statement on Wednesday.
