Indonesia, Aug. 8 -- The Ministry of Population and Family Development has said that its institutional transformation is aimed at strengthening family-based development since the improvement of human resource potential begins with the family.

"A family-based approach is important due to several factors, among others, because human development efforts have so far been too centralized in non-family sectors," secretary of the ministry, Budi Setiyono, said here on Friday.

Other reasons include families not being positioned as the main units in development planning and lack of coordination mechanisms across ministries or agencies to strengthen family functions, he informed.
