Jakarta, April 7 -- Indonesia's Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono has assured that national fish stocks remain secure despite global geopolitical tensions that have disrupted food prices and distribution chains.

Speaking before Commission IV of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday, Trenggono said the government is committed to meeting public demand for animal protein, particularly from the fisheries sector.

According to ministry projections, national fish production between April and December 2026 will reach 10.57 million tons, comprising 5.42 million tons from capture fisheries and 5.15 million tons from aquaculture.
