Jakarta, Oct. 31 -- The Ministry of Law reported that around 500 prisoners in Indonesia are currently on death row and are still awaiting execution due to the lack of clear regulations regarding the timing of the execution.
"Inmates are on death row with no clarity for their executions. This is an extraordinary wait and a major problem," the ministry's Director General of Legislation, Dhahana Putra, said during a webinar on the Public Review of the Bill on Procedures for the Implementation of the Death Penalty, on Friday.
