Batam, Riau Islands, Dec. 22 -- The Ministry of Transmigration is developing avocado agrotourism at the Tanjung Banun transmigration site in Batam, Riau Islands, to boost the local economy.

According to Transmigration Minister Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, avocado agrotourism development in the Tanjung Banun transmigration area will begin in 2026.

"Earlier, we discussed with the community to plant avocados in Tanjung Banun. We already have a pilot project in Kediri, East Java, where all residents are empowered and productive," he stated on Sunday (December 21).

To support the program, he invited Agus Joko Susilo, the Head of Jambu Village, Kediri District, to inspect the land's suitability in Tanjung Banun.
