Jakarta, July 28 -- Indonesian Culture Minister Fadli Zon has affirmed the government's commitment to supporting the nomination of Bawomataluo Village in South Nias, North Sumatra, as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

"What we have here is truly unique. The megalithic culture that continues to thrive today is an ancestral heritage that we must collectively safeguard," Zon said in an official statement here on Tuesday, following his opening of the 4th Bawomataluo Expo.

He described the traditional village, located in South Nias District, as a concrete example of a living cultural heritage, emphasizing the need for its continuous preservation and global promotion.
