Jakarta, Aug. 27 -- The government remains committed to safeguarding public safety and order as citizens rally in Jakarta to voice their aspirations to the House of Representatives (DPR), Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago said.

Speaking in Jakarta on Thursday, he emphasized that the government would "work shoulder to shoulder" with the police, the military, and members of the public to facilitate conducive rallies and protests.

"We are putting effort into ensuring that people's aspirations are well conveyed and received by DPR members," Chaniago remarked, while stressing the importance of appropriate measures to anticipate rogue parties intent on sowing disorder.
