Jakarta, June 14 -- Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that the proposal to include sugar in the food assistance program still requires comprehensive government study.

"Well, in the context of food self-sufficiency, it is certainly important. However, regarding the inclusion of sugar as part of the food aid component, there has not yet been any discussion," Nurofiq said here on Sunday.

One proposal that has emerged came from sugarcane farmers, who are pushing for sugar to be included in the government's food aid program.
