Jakarta, June 7 -- Gaming and esports industry has evolved beyond entertainment and has the potential to become a key driver of Indonesia's creative economy, Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy is not only focusing on talent, but on the entire ecosystem," he said in a statement on Sunday.

The ecosystem includes gamers, casters, communities, event organizers, media, and new professions emerging from the gaming subsector that create jobs and growth opportunities for Indonesia's younger generation.

According to Riefky, around 60 percent of Gen Z and millennials currently prefer jobs that align with their interests and passions.
