Samarinda, April 9 -- Frozen tiger prawns and frozen pink shrimp have emerged as top export commodities in East Kalimantan's fisheries sector in the first quarter of 2026, a local fishery official said on Thursday.

"Among all shipments of non-live fishery products from January to March 2026, these two shrimp types remain the largest contributors by volume," said Irma Listiawati, an official at the East Kalimantan Marine Affairs and Fisheries Office, in Samarinda.

She said the cumulative export volume of marine products during the period reached 670.3 tons.

The exports generated an economic value of more than Rp122.7 billion (around US$7.2 million).
