Palembang, Aug. 16 -- An Indonesian lawmaker has voiced support for the government's Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, calling it a key step in building a healthier and smarter generation.
"I invite all parties and levels of society to contribute to the success of President Prabowo Subianto's program," said Irma Suryani, a member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR), during a visit to Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), South Sumatra, on Saturday.
Suryani, who monitored the program's rollout with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), said the MBG initiative targets schoolchildren, pregnant women, and the elderly - groups most vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies.
