Mataram, NTB, July 27 -- The Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) stated that the VIII National Community Sports Festival (FORNAS), held in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), is an event to preserve community sport culture.
In a statement here on Sunday, KORMI Chairperson Adil Hakim noted that the participation of Indonesians in sports is still relatively low.
To this end, he said, through FORNAS held from July 26 to August 1, KORMI seeks to strengthen sportsmanship, the spirit of togetherness, and the preservation of the sport culture.
The Sport Development Index of Indonesia in 2024 showed that 114 million, or 55.5 percent, of Indonesian citizens aged 10 to 60 years are categorized as having very low physical fitness.
