Jakarta, Sept. 15 -- The Ministry of Forestry has seized 16 protected eagles in an operation against illegal wildlife trade in Central Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel).

The bust, which targeted a 19-year-old man, is part of a firm commitment to combat activities that threaten Indonesia's biodiversity.

"The possession and trade of protected wildlife is an illegal activity that threatens the sustainability of our biodiversity, with the potential to disrupt the balance of the ecosystem," said Head of the Forestry Law Enforcement Agency for Sumatra Hari Novianto on Monday.
