Jakarta, Dec. 15 -- A fire broke out at the Kramat Jati Central Market in East Jakarta on Monday morning, destroying at least 350 kiosks at one of the capital's largest food distribution hubs.
President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya Agus Himawan said the blaze was first reported at around 7:15 a.m. (GMT+7). The fire swept through the Fruit Section in Block C2, causing panic among traders as hundreds of kiosks were engulfed.
Despite the scale of the incident, firefighters and the market's internal security team acted quickly, preventing the flames from spreading to other sections of the market. The fire was brought under control within an hour.
