Jakarta, July 31 -- Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said the Merdeka Run 2026 will bring together people from all walks of life to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.

"The Merdeka Run is one of the most anticipated events because it directly involves participation from all segments of society," Thohir told the media after a cross-agency meeting on the organization of Merdeka Run 2026 here on Friday.

Merdeka Run 2026 is scheduled to take place on August 29, featuring an eight-kilometer route starting from the Merdeka Palace complex in Jakarta.
