East Nusa Tenggara'squake death toll hits 14, BNPB says
Jakarta, Aug. 15 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) said 14 people had died after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), with two people severely injured and 11 sustaining minor injuries as of 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
"Based on updated data as of 12:30 p.m. WIB, 14 fatalities have been recorded, along with two severe injuries and 11 minor injuries," BNPB spokesman Berton SP Panjaitan said.
"The data is still being collected, verified and validated on the ground," he added.
Three deaths were recorded in Sikka District, six in Manggarai and five in East Manggarai. Injuries were reported in Sikka, Nagekeo, Manggarai and East Manggarai. About 2,000 residents have evacuated to safer locations, BNPB sa...
