DPR confirms Asset Forfeiture Bill covers proceeds of corruption
Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed that the Bill on Asset Forfeiture regulates the confiscation of assets resulting from corruption.
"If the crime is committed by corruption, then those assets are confiscated," he ensured when met at the Parliament Complex on Tuesday.
Dasco stated that the previous draft on Asset Forfeiture also regulated provisions related to corruption.
However, several provisions of the draft remain subject to adjustment following the enactment of the new Criminal Code (KUHP) and Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
"That (draft) was issued before the new KUHP and KUHAP were enacted, so we will adjust it later," Dasco remarked.
