Jakarta, March 11 -- Deputy Home Affairs Minister Akhmad Wiyagus has urged regional governments to accelerate tuberculosis (TB) control efforts, particularly in several areas of West Java where case numbers remain high.
Wiyagus said TB control is a mandatory government responsibility closely tied to basic public services, requiring serious attention from local administrations and stronger planning and budgeting at the regional level.
"Tuberculosis is an endemic disease that requires special attention," Wiyagus said after attending the "Strengthening Commitment and Tangible Action for Accelerated TB Elimination" event in Bandung district, West Java, on Tuesday, according to an official statement.
