Jakarta, May 2 -- Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, underscored the vital role of women in shaping the country's creative economy and its values.

"Anything creative is inherently beautiful. Women have the eye to see what is good and beautiful, while men ensure that beauty is also functional. That is the essence of the creative economy," Umar said in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

Speaking at the Srikandi Vol. 2: Women Shaping Creative Ecosystem event in Jakarta on Friday, she noted that women lead about 60 percent of the creative sector, particularly in subsectors such as fashion, crafts, and culinary arts.
