Jakarta, Aug. 7 -- Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the benefits of the downstream policy must be felt more fairly by producing regions and communities around industrial areas.

Although the downstream policy has recorded various achievements, Pandjaitan said a number of tasks still need to be completed, ranging from equitable distribution of economic benefits and a bigger role for local entrepreneurs to strengthening environmental and workplace safety aspects.

"The benefits of downstreaming must be fairer for regions and communities around industrial areas. National and regional entrepreneurs must move up the value chain," Pandjaitan said here on Friday.
