Jakarta, Aug. 22 -- Indonesia's Creative Economy Ministry sees the creative economy sector as a potential alternative source of employment for young people, especially amid the high proportion of Gen Z and Millenials among the unemployed.

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya mentioned about 82 percent of Indonesia's 7.5 million unemployed come from Gen Z and Millennials, while 63 percent of 27.4 million workers in the creative economy sector come from the two generational groups.

"The creative economy sector can contribute to reducing open unemployment, in which 82 percent are Gen Z and Millennials," Harsya said in his remarks at the Indonesian Creative Works (KKI) 2026 here on Saturday.
