Magelang, May 31 -- Buddhists lit Peace Lamp as part of the Vesak Tri Suci celebrations 2570 BE/2026 at Mendut Temple before proceeding to Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java.

A monk from Sangha Mahayana Tanah Suci Indonesia , Dwi Virya, in Magelang on Sunday stated that the peace lamp, using the Api Abadi Mrapen, symbolizes inner illumination, prayer, and the hope for peace and harmony for all beings.

Monks and Buddhists took turns lighting the lamps in the courtyard of Mendut Temple which illuminated the temple area and created a reflective atmosphere leading up to the peak of the Vesak celebrations.

It symbolizes the spirit of wisdom, compassion, and universal brotherhood in core values of teaching of Buddhism.
