Jakarta, Aug. 18 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has mobilized military airlifts and sea routes to speed humanitarian relief to East Nusa Tenggara following a severe earthquake, dispatching over 100 tons of emergency cargo.

Berton Panjaitan, BNPB's acting head of data and communications, said Monday that air operations out of Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base have been running continuously since Saturday to supply hard-hit communities across the archipelago.

"Coordination was carried out to ensure logistics and air transport support can be delivered quickly according to the needs of communities in the affected areas," Panjaitan said in a statement.
