Baznas channels 1.5 million liters of water to 72 drought-hit villages
Jakarta, Aug. 12 -- Indonesia's National Alms Agency (Baznas) has distributed around 1.53 million liters of clean water to 72 villages in 14 regions across six provinces, ensuring adequate access for 70,944 people amid drought during the dry season.
Baznas Head Sodik Mudjahid said the initiative was rolled out as part of the government's efforts to help residents meet their basic needs, especially in areas struggling with water shortages.
"The clean water program of Baznas targets people in need, particularly residents in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged regions or those affected by a long dry season or disasters," he noted in a statement cited in Jakarta on Wednesday.
