Jakarta, April 27 -- The newly appointed Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) Abdul Kadir Karding vowed to carry out mandates from President Prabowo Subianto by stepping up quarantine supervision measures while supporting trade activities.
Speaking after his oath-taking, Karding highlighted Barantin as a new institution established with shielding Indonesia from risky animals and plants that could transmit diseases or invasive organisms.
"The quarantine agency is a new institution expected to help preventing diseases carried by animals and plants, particularly those from overseas, for entering Indonesia," Karding told the press at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
