Gilimanuk, Bali, Aug. 26 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated a 1-gigawatt peak (GWp) solar power plant initiative will phase out diesel power plants in Bali.

"Specifically for Bali, if the 1-gigawatt project is implemented, it is expected to eliminate all diesel generators on this island," the Ministry's Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Eniya Listiani Dewi, said.

Speaking after the groundbreaking event for Indonesia's 100 GWp Solar Power Project in Gilimanuk, Bali, on Tuesday (August 25), Dewi explained the construction of the 1 GWp solar power system in Bali will be divided into five clusters.
