Jakarta, Oct. 9 -- State-owned air navigation service provider AirNav Indonesia and Telkom University strengthened collaboration in research and development of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity technology to support operational efficiency and flight navigation safety.

"In aviation, safety is the top priority. Over time, safety must also go hand in hand with efficiency and sustainability," AirNav Indonesia Technical Director Zainal Arifin Harahap said in a written statement here on Friday.

He explained that AI can be used as a supporting tool to simplify work processes, but decisions concerning flight safety remain in human hands.
