Jakarta, Aug. 28 -- Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) brings both significant opportunities and new threats to the legal system.
During a public lecture at the Faculty of Law in Padjadjaran University, Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (Aug 27), Mahendra stated that artificial intelligence may be sophisticated, but it is still born from a series of human-generated codes.
"Therefore, legal accountability remains with humans, not machines," Mahendra stated as confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
He also highlighted the dilemma between the need for adaptive and progressive law and legal certainty.
