Indonesia, Aug. 30 -- Mass organizations in North Kalimantan on Saturday unfurled a 2,026-meter red-and-white banner at a rally in Bulungan District to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence this month.

North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang commended the youth and ordinary residents who participated in the parade, which was organized by the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) and the Orang Indonesia (OI) community.

"I thank all participants who joined the parade enthusiastically. I also laud KNPI and other parties who made the event a success," Paliwang stated while sending off the parade.
