Jakarta, Aug. 17 -- A ceremonial carriage carried Indonesia's heirloom flag and 1945 Proclamation text from the National Monument to Merdeka Palace on Sunday during the Red and White Parade marking the nation's 80th Independence Day.

The Garuda Prabayaksa carriage, built in Sleman, Yogyakarta, for the milestone celebration, was featured in a live broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat. The name combines the words praba and yaksa, meaning "great light".

Riding aboard the carriage were two retired flag-bearers of the 2024 Pancasila Ambassador -- Kirana Asyawidya Baskara from Banten, who carried the national flag, and Ni Komang Trisetya from Bali, who bore the proclamation text.
