India, Oct. 4 -- In a major move, the BCCI on Saturday announced Shubman Gill as India's new ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma for the upcoming three-match series against Australia later this month. Rohit, along with batting maestro Virat Kohli, has been included in the squad, marking a strong return of the senior duo to India's limited-overs lineup.
Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who recently retired from Test and T20 formats, will now feature exclusively in ODIs for India. Gill, who already leads the Test team following Rohit's retirement from the longer format in May, also serves as vice-captain of India's T20 side under Suryakumar Yadav.
