India, Aug. 29 -- More than 5,000 people from across 39 US states are expected to attend Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's address at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday, with organisers closing registrations following a strong response.

The "Universal Oneness" programme is expected to bring together participants from 85 cities and has more than 200 partner organisations, event spokesperson Priya Samant said. The gathering is scheduled to begin at 2 pm local time.

The event is centred on the Indian philosophical concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or "the world is one family". Organisers said the programme seeks to promote peace, harmony and coexistence among people from different backgrounds.
