India, Oct. 30 -- Mumbai BJP president and MLA Ameet Satam has defended the proposed 3,000 MW pumped storage hydropower project in Karjat, accusing Opposition leaders of politicising environmental concerns without adequately understanding the role of clean energy in sustainable development.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Friday, Satam said discussions around global warming, climate change and sustainability had become fashionable among political leaders, actors and activists, but stressed that those raising such concerns should first understand concepts such as net zero emissions, clean energy and sustainable development.
