Srilanka, Aug. 18 -- The government has launched a programme to purchase quality paddy from farmers through small and medium-scale rice mill owners and cooperative societies as part of the 2026 Yala season paddy purchasing programme.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring farmers receive a fair price for their harvest under the government's guaranteed price policy, while making rice available to consumers at affordable prices and strengthening the small and medium-scale rice milling sector.
