Srilanka, July 15 -- The suspect who allegedly snatched a police officer's service pistol, shot him with it and then escaped on a motorcycle in Katunayake this evening (15) has been arrested by the police.



He was arrested in the Devolapola area of Minuwangoda, a short while ago, along with the firearm used in the incident, the police spokesman said.



A police officer had sustained gunshot injuries after a suspect allegedly seized the officer's service pistol and opened fire at Dewamottawa Road in Katunayake this evening.



It is reported that the individual had opened fire at a police officer at the location before fleeing on a motorcycle at around 3.50 p.m. today (15).
