Sri Lanka, April 1 -- Sri Lanka Police have implemented a special security programme to ensure public safety during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season.

The Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) F. U. Wootler stated that the security plan will be in operation across all 608 police stations island-wide.

The Police Media Spokesperson further noted that more than 10,000 police officers have been deployed on traffic and security duties.
