Public warned over impersonators posing as PHIs and demanding money
Sri Lanka, June 22 -- The Public Health Inspectors' Union of Sri Lanka has warned the public about a growing number of incidents reported across the country involving individuals posing as Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) to obtain money fraudulently.
In a statement, the association said that numerous cases have been reported in which individuals have misled people at various institutions and private residences and collected money unlawfully.
The association noted that these incidents are often linked to inspections carried out in relation to the current dengue outbreak, with fraudsters reportedly using legal action related to dengue prevention and household inspections as a pretext to demand payments.
