Sri Lanka, May 1 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that Sri Lanka is marking this year's International Workers' Day at a decisive moment, as the country records significant economic progress despite a challenging global environment shaped by conflict.
Issuing his International Workers' Day message, the President highlighted that the country has achieved notable economic milestones in 2025, including the lowest budget deficit since 1977 and the highest government revenue recorded since 2007.
He also noted that export earnings from goods and services exceeded USD 17 billion, while foreign remittances reached a historic high.
