Police seize illegally imported smartphones worth Rs. 50M at Colpetty shop
Srilanka, July 22 -- Police have seized more than 300 illegally imported smartphones, including the latest iPhone models, with an estimated value of about Rs. 50 million, during a raid conducted by the Walana Anti-Vice Squad at a shop in Liberty Plaza.
A suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure, police said.
The stock of smartphones, which had been illegally imported into the country, was discovered in a basement storage facility of a shop located at Liberty Plaza in Kollupitiya.
Police said the seized consignment of mobile phones will be handed over to Sri Lanka Customs for further action.
